Nato Sultanishvili, Head of the Head of Planning and Development Unit of the Agency of Protected Areas held an informational meeting for SANGU students and employees within the awareness raising campaign, where she spoke about the importance of protected areas, the purpose of creation, biodiversity and ecotourism services.
There are 100 protected areas under the authority of the Agency throughout the country, with the main purpose of protected areas, both nationally and internationally, is to protect and preserve the country's natural heritage, raise environmental awareness of society, develop ecotourism and popularize protected areas.
The students received comprehensive information about the protected areas in Georgia, allowed and prohibited activities, planning the hike and factors to be considered for its safe conduct.
