U.S. Ambassadors visit to SANGU

On April 11th, a distinguished delegation comprising Robin Dunnigan, U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia, Alexander N. Daniels, Public Affairs Counselor of the Embassy of the United States of America in Georgia and Sophie Bzishvili, Higher Education Team Lead paid a visit to St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University of the Patriarchate of Georgia (SANGU). The esteemed guests were warmly welcomed by Archbishop of Bodbe, Iakob, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia at SANGU, and University Rector, Irakli Brachuli.

During the visit, Rector Brachuli emphasized the significance of such interactions. He underscored that providing quality and innovative education, aligned with global standards, is pivotal for driving development, prosperity, and ensuring genuine freedom and security. These factors are crucial not only for the homeland but also for the well-being of humanity worldwide.

Archbishop Iakob highlighted the continuous support of His Holiness towards addressing real-world challenges, exemplified by his blessing for the establishment of a joint international master's program in cybersecurity, a first of its kind in Georgia. He expressed gratitude to the Ambassador, the Embassy, and the U.S. State Department for their unwavering attention and support.

The ambassador engaged with the students and academic staff of cybersecurity master’s program, emphasizing the importance of the strategic partnership between Georgia and the USA and considered the successful implementation of the joint program as a testament to this partnership’s strength and efficacy.

Ketevan Chachava, Executive Director of the Center for Development and Democracy (CDD) highlighted the pivotal role played by the US Embassy and the State Department in fostering the partnership between SANGU and NKU and facilitating the joint master's program in cybersecurity.

The Georgian Government and Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia fully endorse and support all Georgian-American programs implemented by SANGU in collaboration with American partners.

Since January 2023, 80 students have been enrolled in the master's program, fully funded by SANGU. They are mastering one of the world's most demanding and highly paid professions. Upon completion, graduates are awarded the qualifications of Master of Science in Cybersecurity (NKU) and Master of Science in Information Technology Security (SANGU).
